Vision and Values
A vibrant culture of ocean stewardship in the greater Caribbean region has the opportunity to play a significant role in a global ocean economy while building resilience to environmental threats. Empowering Caribbean communities will set a worldwide example for the essential protection and restoration of healthy ocean resources. Now is the time for direct investment in education and locally-developed solutions that contribute to long-term ecological and economic stability. Sea of Life envisions the Caribbean as a region of ocean-focused partnerships, building resilient economies and vital communities.
Sea of Life is guided and founded by two women of Caribbean descent, with a combined 10 years of experience with ocean stewardship and is rooted in the following values:
Community is the core of conservation and so strengthening community comes first.
Ecological and economic health can be achieved in harmony.
Privilege is a gift that can be leveraged to create equity in ocean education, restoration, and management programs.
The ocean is our commons – the ocean is for everyone.
